The Asa Wolverton House was built in 1851 by a Lumber Merchant from Cayuga, N.Y. We have taken this historic home and started with every detail to retore back to it's original charm. The documented historic wall coverings have been recreated to the period as well. We have furnished with period furnishings and family photos which our guests assume are original to the house. The architecture is unique in style as this is the only Greek Revival Planation Home of it's kind in Ontario.
We have remodelled The Carriage House, attached to the main house to be a unique accommodation for our guests including two queen beds, one double, private bath and full kitchen with all ammenities for a comfortable one night or extended visit for our guests. There is another bedroom that can be added by request (Annie and Ernest's Wedding Room). The Carriage house can accommodate groups of seven. Guests enjoy sitting in the hot tub on the river's edge.
Our guests are welcome to lounge on the veranda and enjoy the magnificant view of the Historic Grand River. Some of our guests venture down the ravine to the water's edge to go fly fishing or canoe from this point. It's like being in the country and yet we are only minutes walk to our historical downtown district. Guests enjoy fine dining, specialty shopping, plus outdoor theatre at one of our summer festivals.
"Mrs. Wolverton" and her friends (from 1855) will be part of a historic walking tours of Paris throughout summer and fall of 2008. The Paris Historical Society will be sponsoring tours for those who want to be a part of the History of Paris.
For more than twelves years we have welcomed guests from around the world and we look forward to your vist to "The Asa Wolverton House" too.
