Bed & Breakfast Description
Resting on the southern shore of Howe Island, one of the largest of the famous 1000 Islands, our Winery and B&B is quite a unique property. The residence dates back to the early 1800s and has been tastefully restored and modernised. The vineyard is less historic having only been planted in 2008 and is now producing lovely 'summertime quaffing wines. Depending on the season, guests may find themselves helping the vigneron with his chores!
The main house guest quarters are both freshly renovated. Our Gardenview Room has a Queen bed and ensuite. Vineyardview Room, with twin beds, is nereby and is only let in conjunction with the Gardenview to accommodate a mature aged family of four or two couples. The rooms are very private and guests have access to our cosy lounge room with its soapstone wood stove (seasonal operation) and enclosed sunroom.
Lawton Lodge is a self contained cabin with screened porch detached from the main house. Riverview Room has splendid views of the grounds and the river. Dan's Room, with a double bed, is nereby and is only let in conjunction with Riverview to accommodate a mature aged family of four or two couples
Another feature is our enormous deck covering the boat house where you may choose to just relax and watch the mighty St Lawrence slip by. Take your morning beverage on the deck!
When weather permits we operate our unique river cinema known as ' HOWELYWOOD ' showing an eclectic assortment of DVDs.
There's no hustle nor bustle as the island has virtually no commercial enterprise! For 'Retail Therapy', Gananoque is the closest town, a short 15 minutes by car and ferry! Oh, did we mention the ferries necessary to get to our place? Don't worry, they operate on call 24/7 so there's never a proble getting on or off the island!
Howe Island Winery B&B is very much an escape. Come and discover howe to relax!
