How To Join FOBBA?
Why should you join FOBBA?
- FOBBA is an umbrella organization protecting the interests of bed and breakfast owners with government legislation and regulations.
- FOBBA represents you when new rules are being made which will affect the bed and breakfast industry of Ontario.
- FOBBA is like an insurance for your business.
- There is a rating system in place for you to use.
- You will be in a print directory and 25,000 copies will be distributed.
- You will have a web page on www.fobba.com that you can edit and keep up to date.
- You will be listed under Ontario on bbonline.com, which is a large and very popular American web site.
- You will receive newsletters and relevant information during the year.
- FOBBA gives you a source of reliable bed and breakfasts to send guests to and receive guests from around the Province.

Please follow the steps listed below:
- Read the Code of Ethics page of this web site which also contains the FOBBA definition of a bed and breakfast. Make sure that your business does comply.
- Your business must be registered with the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations before proceeding.
- Complete an appplication below.
- You will need to have an inspection done by two members living close to you, or in a case where there are no other FOBBA members, two people in public office such as Chamber of Commerce employees. Members near you can be found here or through Betty Bridgens the Membership Director at 1-705-326-1125 or membership@fobba.com.
- If you prefer to fill in a form in hard copy, you can email Membership DIrector Betty Bridgens at 1-705-326-1125 or email he at membership@foband request a package be mailed to you.
Forms and details required to complete an application:
- Apply online or if you prefer, you can download the application form.
- Download the inspection checklist and have it completed by two members in good standing.
- A rating sheet if you wish to display your stars. This can be downloaded from "Ratings Criteria" on the left hand side.
- The membership director requires an application, an inspection sheet completed and your fee by cheque or Visa before the application can be processed. At which time you will receive a certificate of membership, decals, the Constitution and other print materials. Also your web page will become live and you will have a member login and password.
Current fees for joining are $175 for membership until November 2008 plus $25 one time web page set up fee. All are subject to GST making a total of $212.
If you applied on line you will be able to build your web page prior to completeing all the application necessities. When everything is completed your web site will become live. This web page is completely editable by you and you are encouraged to change it as often as you wish.
Your Bed and Breakfast will be listed under the region, the city and alphabetically. There is an advanced search facility on the site and therefore it is very important that you fill in all the required answers pertaining to your facilities. It is the members responsibility to post their rates and keep them up dated, also changes in email addresses. All members must include their cancelation policy in their description.
