FOBBA is the professional Association representing the Bed & Breakfast industry in Ontario. Members agree to adhere to a high set of consistent standards defining cleanliness, comfort, quality and hospitality.
FOBBA was formed in 1987 as a response to the efforts of the hotel lobby of that day to eliminate B&Bs as an accommodations option in Ontario. Needless to say, our small group of founders succeeded, and thankfully, much has changed since then.
Today, tourism partners of all types seek out ways of working together to create memorable experiences for our guests. This includes large and small hotels, motels, resorts, restaurants, small inns, B&B associations, events, retailers and various levels of government: all are working together to find new ways of promoting their destinations, and enticing you with the right reason to visit.
That's what makes Ontario such a fabulous place. And our involvement in the tourism industry, the engagement of our members, is what makes a FOBBA Bed & Breakfast experience such a great option when you tour Ontario.
Technically, our members are governed and regulated according to a set of Standard Policies & Procedures and Code of Ethics. Each facility is inspected prior to acceptance and re-inspected on a regular basis.
But beyond that, FOBBA is the single voice that speaks for the bed and breakfast industry with the Provincial government. FOBBA has successfully worked with the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of the Environment and other government agencies on a number of initiatives.
The Executive of FOBBA is made up of dedicated owners, and represents the diverse components of the industry in Ontario, establishes self-regulating guidelines and educational material and represents the industry to the Ministry of Tourism. FOBBA is your Bed and Breakfast professional organization. As a host, we are Your Voice for Your Choice.
